Independence Day USA (colloquial: the Fourth of July) is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the Declaration of Independence of the United States on July 4, 1776. The Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American Colonies were no longer subject (and subordinate) to the monarch of Britain and were now united, free, and independent states. 

Bastille Day France and its overseas départements and territories, a holiday marking the anniversary of the fall on July 14, 1789, of the Bastille. The taking of the Bastille signaled the beginning of the French Revolution, and it thus became a symbol of the end of the ancien régime.

Canada Independence Day: On July 1, 1867, with the passage of the British North America Act, the Dominion of Canada was officially established as a self-governing entity within the British Empire.

Independence Day, in India, a national holiday celebrated annually on August 15. Independence Day marks the end of British rule in 1947.
